my money on marni

I've always liked Marni more for Consuelo Castiglioni's colour sense than anything else, and this season is no exception - love the pinks, yellows, the flashes of fluorescent and the use of beige to anchor it all. Marni consistently epitomizes cool granny chic for me and for all the artful layering, I've always found a sense of clean precision in the collections - the cuts are loose and sharp at the same time and the styling is very graphic in its proportions and colours. I never find Marni fussy. I like the nods to Prada, the play of uneven ruffled hems and proportioned shoulders, and it'll be cool to see of she explores this theme further next season.

i love love love marni. love it.
marni gets my head and heart confused because it catches me off guard just as i'm ordering a sharp blazer with a razor-like lapel, it yanks me over to a softer, gentler frame of mind. what to do, what to do.

Marni is so interesting, because there is a coherent convergence of whimsy, minimalism, shape, and understated-ness. I don't know how she pulls it off, but Consuelo Castiglioni's work always zaps me somehow. I'm still not brave enough to wear it, though.

(Thank you for listing me in your sidebar! I was really surprised to see that!)

Consuelo is brilliant!...you're so right, somehow Marni is never fussy.

Wow comments...my turn to be surprised. Nice to meet more Marni diehards - I think some pple are bored by Marni but it's an aesthetic all on its own and I'm happy to not have to share it with the rest of the world, hahaha.

enc - my pleasure, your blog is always fun...though i'm not much of commenting person so i'm quite invisible, in spite of the fact i do read quite a few blogs...
