a love letter

Every dress in the Bottega Veneta fall collection was luxurious and fuss-free. The white robe-like coat that opened the show (far right, above) pretty much sealed my love affair with this collection. It's also now official that I want lots of blush/nude shades for my bedroom, but minus the boudoir factor.

I'm not one for evening gowns, but the lightness of these took my breath away, and I've loved the idea of a shirtwaister gown since I saw a picture of Katherine Hepburn in one. The nice thing about this collection is that although the inspiration might be retro (particularly the make-up and hair), but the final product is anything but. The glamour isn't old-world, it's a soft, modern effortlessness.
