I've always loved Marni for the colour mix and the shapes and silhouettes, but in my head, I always pictured wearing them in a different way from the runway because the typical Marni look is a bit too overwhelming for me. (Except for the sporty spring 2007 collection. That I totally got.) This season though, there were lots of toned-down looks that made me go, "hey, that's exactly how I'd always pictured myself wearing Marni." Yes, patterned tights with platform sandals are still a bit of a frontier to me. But for the most part, it was great to see a designer I consistently admire put things together in a way I actually can identify with, without any mental rejigging on my part.
