solid oak

On the recommendation of one enc, I checked out the online shop of New York boutique Oak, and bloody hell, it's totally my new La Garconne, with an easier-to-navigate website. And international shipping. This could be dangerous. But since I remain stubbornly unwilling to ordering clothes I haven't tried on or touched, I'm quite safe from the temptations of virtual shopping.

Oak carries a number of labels I like - Alexander Wang, Surface to Air, Anne Valerie Hash etc - and their own in-house label Oak is pretty cool too. It's a good mix of wearable and slightly more avant-garde designs, and there's plenty to keep you interested, but not so much that it becomes overwhelming. You get the feeling it's well-curated, rather than just a mix of the latest It labels. There's a certain common aesthetic in the selection.

I'm really keen on the Vena Cava dress on the top left corner - somehow the print doesn't seem scandalous or sleazy to me, it has a clean, graphic (as in geometrically-speaking) quality. Too expensive for me, unfortunately.

(Clockwise from top left corner - Vena Cava dress; Alexander Wang vest; Oak dress; Monrow jacket; Anne Valerie Hash dress; Jeffrey Campbell shoes; Carlos Falchi bag)

The buyers at Oak really have it together. I can't stop visiting that site.
Oh, Vena Cava makes me swoon.
