whats going on?
I was at the airport this morning, where Singaporeans, some of whom had been trapped (though not held hostage) at the besieged Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai, were trickling home. The two I saw walked out with broad smiles, no luggage but the clothes on their bags, relieved to be home. Their families greeted them, secure in the knowledge that their loved ones were there, safe before their eyes. It was nice. Think of how those who know someone still a hostage at the hotels must feel. Hopefully such a scene will unfold for them soon.
Just days before, the airport was packed with confused travellers, all dismayed that their flights to Bangkok had been cancelled due to the ongoing protest at the Bangkok airports.
It's been a very bewildering, frightening week.
