take one for the team

I am hugely sceptical of any attempt at workout gear-inspired fashion. Like military-inspired clothing, I always wish they would just stay away. Subtle interpretations are a good concept, but most of the time, they're just so...literal.

For my premature scorn, I deserve to be shown up by this wonderfully comfy and decidedly cute sweatshirt from Muji, which I spotted yesterday.

It looked good on too (if I do say so myself), and it's actually made of very light, very soft cotton, so it works well in the weather here, but it still has that heft that makes a sweatshirt distinct from a regular t-shirt or pullover.

I am mulling. I really like it. I just don't want more things. I was doing so well, buying just four things in six months (yeah, I know, so much for the shopping ban).

I wish I could shop less, but nothing seems to be able to curb my habit of killing time by wandering around shops. Of course, If I have punctual friends, I wouldn't have so much idle time to go around looking at things and trying them on. And falling for them and spending all this time wondering if I should buy them.

I love that top - I might have to take a look at Muji in London to see if they have it!

4 items in 6 months is fantastic - don't beat yourself up. If you love something, you will get wear out of it.

Have you decided whether or not to buy it? It's very cute, and could be very versatile, but I completely understand your desire not to acquire. Hmmmm.

Anonymous: thanks! about the top, I'm trying not to think about it in terms of numbers, but it's the competitive side of me, haha.

Ammu: Oh yes please do, they have it in a darker grey as well.

Pret a Porter P: I'm looking forward to sale season as well! I think the last six months prepared me to be more disciplined this time...

enc: I haven't bought it because I've been preoccupied with the World Cup, hahaha. Football as antidote to shopping perhaps.

I could see myself getting rid of some older tops to make way for this..I did spend some time over the weekend thinking about how to wear this top and what I think I can retire in my closet to freshen things up.
