reasons to buy american vogue this month
Always, always enjoy the Nostalgia section, especially when they introduce beautiful pictures to me. Like the spellbinding Irving Penn photograph above. I keep going back to it.
And this 90s' redux editorial. Not groundbreaking, but a fantastic selection of clothes, and beautiful, deliberate use of colour. It's great to actually see these pages side by side in the magazine.
Magazine: Vogue US July 2009
Photographer: Mario Testino
Stylist: Marie Amelie Sauve
As Pret a Porter P once observed, Marie Amelie Sauve is really giving American Vogue a shot in the arm.
Don't let the pleasantly dull Marion Cotillard cover get you down. Or the rather lacklustre editorial shot by one of my favourite photographers Peter Lindbergh. Don't even let the article inside about the decline of "rock" style (with quotes from pretty poseur types) irritate you.
There's a brief but beautiful homage to Alexander McQueen's final collection, and the accessories editorial styled by Elissa Santisi is unusually inspired.
