desert storm

IMG_0152

I only meant to pick up underwear when I went into Topshop, but these ended up coming home with me (along with underwear). They look like the Clarks Desert boots that I love but look horrible on me, and they aren't too much for the tropics. They are also the first flat boots I have ever tried that work on me. Bonus: they were on sale.

I'm quite happy to have a new pair of shoes to break my usual ballerinas/loafers. Things can get monotonous when you only wear flat shoes so it's fun to have something come along that feels different but still resolutely me.

I 100% understand you! It does get a little monotonous when you only wear flat shoes, especially if you only wear a couple of styles. I have recently been loving desert boots after I saw a couple of super cool girls wearing them at uni - they just made them work. although they had lovely slim legs so I guess that helps. :)

Omg!! Thay're so cute! I'm glad you got them!!! Do you think you'll end up wearing them with shorts in the summer?

alexandra: Thanks!

hannah-rose: I've always liked them, and I LOVE the way the look on guys, but they always made me look clumsy. I guess the flimsier, daintier version of the real thing is better for me. I could picture them with your long skirts....or is that a little too "grunge"?

Fashion Tidbits: I was wearing shorts when I bought them! Thought they looked pretty cool, if I do say so myself, hah.

If Jane: Agree! I've always been envious of the girls who can rock the original.

they look great on you! i like the original clarks boots too, but these ones have a less-rounded toe and look more feminine.

they look great! flat shoes can put you in a rut so it's nice to have a variety of styles.

This is so coincidental I just bought an opening ceremony pair from ebay yesterday that looks really similar to yours! Mine is more of a grey colour though. It's actually a men's pair so I'm quite worried it'll look weird when worn, hopefully it'll be alright...

PS: I'm so sorry I haven't replied your email it is really rude of me but university has kept me SO busy. I'll try to reply you this weekend though!

Jennifer: Agree...unfortunately I don't think these will last as long as Clarks, haha. I have one pair of Clarks Oxfords I suspect are indestructible.

Pret a Porter P: That's good to know!

Kate: It does...although I admit I always retreat to the comforting territory of ballerinas after a while.

Garderoben: Thanks!

Samantha: Haha cool, I hope yours work out well on you...grey sounds lovely. No worries about getting back to me, it took me a while to write to you too!

About a year ago, I was on a frantic search for the Clark desert boots, but they were nowhere to be found in women's sizes. I'm pretty sure they would have looked too clunky on me too, which consoles me a bit, but also makes me a little jealous of yours. I might start looking for a pair again, they look so good!
