taken a shine

Judging by reviews, it seems like not everyone liked 'Sunshine Cleaning'. Well yes, the plot was a bit thin and predictable and has that indie movie need for quirk, but it's one of those films that pitch the "ordinary" right. Nothing too dramatic or heroic (in the epic sense) or insurmountable or tragic happens, it's just people dealing with stuff with their chin up without going into meltdowns. A nice blend of optimism and stoicism.

I loved Amy Adams's performance and I'm starting to understand why people have been raving about her. She's incredibly charismatic to watch and I think she carried the movie (though everyone else was very good as well). Well worth the fuss.
