back in business

Untitled

Actually, no not really, because coming back to work is like falling into a rushing river - first the icy cold water slaps you out of your holiday reverie, followed by a period of disorientation as you try and figure out whether you're sinking or floating, followed by you grasping and sputtering to the surface, with no time to feel relieved after your first gasp of air because immediately you must to get your limbs in order and start swimming in the right direction (or perhaps to a nice big rock or the shore) while everything rushes by, and you're constantly in danger of being swept into little dizzying eddies that threaten to trap you into a spin, never to break free.

(Or perhaps you are a well-adjusted individual more adept at coping with the vagaries of life and you think I'm being dramatic.)

In any case, regular posting will soon resume, along with a better rendering of my wanderings in Turkey, once I wrestle all my work commitments into a more manageable state. I hope everyone is well!

Perfectly described - that's exactly how I feel my first few days back at work from vacation, also from Turkey!

if only holidays could never end, but then perhaps we wouldn't love them as much! Your trip looked amazing and I'm dying to see more pictures. I also want to hit you up with some new zealand tips from your trip - I'll be in the south island for most of it and I saw you were there for a while too.

I followed you in instagram too. and is still working the way through your archive. It's funny when I was still mesmerized in your 2011 Nov Post (where you went to Paris/London/Brussel) and at the same time you are already 'back to business'. welcome back, I always thought, 'to travel is to come back.." - I Ying

joy: it feels like i never left :)

jocy: haha. turkey was a world apart.

hannah-rose: oh yes email me and i'll see if i can help! i was only in south island actually.

ammu: thanks! hope things are well with you!

eileen: thanks! yeah i was very connected to the internet the whole time, amazingly.

pret a porter: thanks! it's actually been fun catching on reading blogs.

i ying: wow that trip didn't feel that long ago and you've reminded me that it's practically been 2 years.
It always take me 1-2 weeks to acclimatize after a long holiday. The longer the holiday, the longer I need to stay in my cave to adjust to normality.

Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your holiday and had a chance to relax. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Turkey- you know I love it so much...

I'm also dealing with the same thing of trying to ease myself back from my holiday. Luckily we are going away again soon. Truthfully, I do tend to work a bit remotely and check in on things (I'm getting better about this), so I'm not so overwhelmed when I come back...

Oh and your birthday is around this time of year. Hope you have a great year!

Welcome back! I hope Turkey was a great experience, it must be all the harder to readjust to everyday life after a great travel. Waiting to see the photos and tales from your vacation :)

Marlene: Tumbling back into the office does speed up the acclimatisation process..

Lindsay K: Thanks! To be honest it's quite tough going putting together my thoughts on Turkey - it was quite overwhelming and I hope I can do it justice when I start posting about the trip!

Kali: It was amazing - I bought a number of books while I was there and I wish I read some of them before I got there because I think it have helped me get a better "feel" of what I saw.
