lip service
Been using Aesop's Rosehip Seed Lip Cream since February, and I wonder why I didn't buy some lip cream sooner instead of relying solely on lip balm all my life. Since I started using it, I've had very little problems with chapped lips and I use lip balm less frequently now, just once every few days. Because the Aesop packaging isn't designed to be carried around (crush it in your bag and all the cream comes spilling out the next time you open the tube), I usually use it at night before I sleep, and on my 12-hour flight to Frankfurt it was a godsend - I didn't get off feeling like the skin was about to crack off my lips. It smells lovely and absorbs easily, and it's one of those moments when you feel that a beauty product is actually doing something for you.
I don't know how the Aesop cream compares to other products in the market since it was the first time I'd ever tried such a product. I also wonder if conventional moisturiser for the face would work as well...do we need specially formulated cream for lips (Philosophy has one that's for eyes AND lips. Hmm.)? In any case, I'm quite glad to move away from lip balms which I never enjoyed using.
Does anyone use lip creams or treatments? What do you guys think?
Yep, random rave over. Back to work.

Anything that gets a good review after being used on a flight is worth investigating to me!!!
Ammu: Actually I use Kiehls, and it's not bad, but I never really like the feeling of balm on my lips, even though I know it's necessary against the elements (cold dry winds and the sun). I don't like the greasy feeling.
Abby: I admit I'm incredibly unmotivated when it comes to DIY, but this one does look simple enough. What proportions of each do you use?
I've tried Yes to Carrots but I lost it in the deep abyss of my handbag one day and disappeared forever. I'm trying Burt's Bees now. A friend of mine raved about the Burt's Bees tinted lip balm which I haven't tried yet.
I've only heard great things about Aesop.
Nope I'm not on Twitter. Okay I do have an account but I only use it to follow breaking news from the major papers and wires...
Anon: That sounds quite good, I've always had this impression that everything at the Body Shop is perfumed with something overpowering - like their fruity shower gels.
The best lip balm I've ever tried is from Neal's Yard - one application generally lasts all day, it's inexpensive, has SPF protection, and it smells wonderful, like honey. Unfortunately it seems to sell only in the UK and once I finished it, that was it. They used to sell it on ASOS, but no longer!

and truly don't think I could get through a day without it. My current balm of choice is the kiehl's. I might have to check out the aesop stuff if it could break the cycle of addiction I'm in!
Fen: I actually really the feeling of lip balms on my lips - it always feels like this layer on my lips that doesn't absorb. After trying a cream I think they might absorb and hydrate better, but this will need further testing haha.
Elle Talis: Thanks for the tip, are those balms or creams? Will definitely investigate when I next go shopping.
Nomadic D: I was quite blown away when I saw the picture on your blog, hahaha, and love the reviews! I do feel like some balms leave my lips feeling drier after they've worn off, and then I need to apply more, and that's something I'm trying to avoid. So far only Kiehls and Neal's Yard works for me. Rosebud Salve is good too but I really hated the smell.
Lindsay K: Mine was a gift too, incidentally, haha. If Caudalie is better, I must check it out some time..
