summer days: home spun

Hot, sticky days make me crave gauzy, rough, materials - linen, canvas, straw, cotton gauze, chambray. Fabrics like these don't stick to the skin and let air circulate, and they evoke a sense of ease and the outdoors.

The best part about all these materials is that they are easy to care for, and they look best rumpled. I like them best when they are clean and spare - they'll still look right in the city while bringing to mind rustic joys.

Yes I love the almost stiff quality - gives you room to breathe!

Oooh! I like those VDC linen clothing. Lately I've been very drawn to the linen jersey material that gives one a slouchy, effortless sense of staying cool.

I completely agree. Linen pants are the best thing for summer. And a straw hat is a definite must!

So right. I always love your recommendations :)

Alexandra: Yes, especially on days when when you don't want to feel anything against your skin.

Amanda: So do i! But I find it unhelpful that you don't get to see every piece on a person.

Nicole: If only I didn't look like a strange old man in hats...

Joy: Thanks!
