back to business
Photographer: Nathaniel Goldberg for Vogue UK July 2011
It's a terribly autumn-y editorial for the weather I'm having, but this edit was the reason why I decided to buy this month's issue of British Vogue - even with the boring Vanessa Paradis cover story. British Vogue has been a increasingly hit and miss for me in recent years, but they are still responsible for some of my favourite images in this year's issues. I love the colour palette of this particular shot - brown, ivory, blue, warm yet subdued. You can feel the autumn chill just looking at it, not to mention the rich, heavy warmth of her coat.
And Stella Tennant - love her otherworldly face and her attitude. Without her, and also the lovely set-up of some of the photographs, it would have been another editorial full of trouser suits. Her purposeful stride sets the tone for the work week ahead.

And Gillian Wilkins is actually an Aussie, so maybe she's feeling homesick for that winter we're in the depths of now.. that is so so so so so so cold. so this is great inspiration! :)

kate: You do have a point there, I keep reading about the miserable UK weather. I like a bit of relief from the colourful beachwear myself, but all the layers just looks so out of sync in a July issue. I do love the image anyway.
Caroline: The whole thing also made crave chocolate...
Panda: I agree, but generally, I like having a spectrum of magazines to choose from - from the big glossies to the smaller, independent ones. Hardly any one magazine will perfectly meet all my needs - I need a range!
Lindsay K: I agree, I keep getting all these email alerts about shopping the pre-fall collection, and it hasn't even started to get warm enough in some parts of the world yet. Maybe it's good for people who like to plan ahead?
