cut back to four years ago...

Some things stay with you, and, even if I didn't realise then, define you. I remember loving this Chloé collection from spring 2005, designed by Phoebe Philo. I remember thinking, 'This is so fresh, this is great, this is easy to wear, low-key but distinct, feminine but not coy.'

I loved it then, but it's only now I realise how much of the silhouettes, the styling, the pieces themselves, have stayed with me. Unconsciously, I've always been searching for pieces like this whenever I'm out shopping. Four years ago, I already found the look I was looking for.

I was reminded of this when I was reading the October issue of American Vogue, which had a feature on Phoebe Philo and her new work for Céline. Here's an excerpt:

She doesn't want clothes that restrict her. She does want ease of dressing and practicality, "having pieces that—as Chanel did it for the first time—women can just wear and get on with their life and feel comfortable in." This collection, she says, "kind of preempts a little bit what I think women will want to wear, what feels new to me, what will feel new to Céline."

I'm very intrigued.

I think Micheal Kors was the last person to have a clear vision for Céline, which was great even though I don't love his designs.
